Vesica Piscis Font
A geometric display font created from the curves and angles of multiple Vesica Piscis symbols.
The posters were screen-printed using variety of methods. Some with foil blocking, some with heat sensitive ink raised from the board. White on white & black on black.

Typanatomy
My surveys of design students, revealed they lacked knowledge of the typographic anatomy and categories of typefaces.
This was both a playful and informative attempt to promote typography whilst at the same time poking fun at
typographers by diagnosing ‘typographic afflictions’.

Steve Reich Phases
A Barbican poster / invite based on how Reich re-recorded the fragment
come out to show them on two tape-loops, which initially play in unison.
They quickly slip out of sync to produce a phase shifting effect, characteristic of Reich’s early works. Gradually, the discrepancy widens
and becomes a reverberation.
Sans Originality Poster
A poster light-heartedly taking the piss out of a modernist typographic trend.

Colm Watkins CV
Hello! I’m an Irishman living in London and love to create typographic and information design. Patterns, form and geometric structure interest me the most.
I want to show maximum meaning using minimum means. I love the tactile nature of print design and welcome any challenge to visually
excite and inform people using concise and considered ideas.
Planting Seeds is my design portfolio. Hopefully it will inspire and inform you. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with gardening!
